Overview of the Environmental Change

With the advent of technological advancement, the ratio of environmental changes has also increased, which cause global warming. This term, global warming or climate change refers to increase in the atmospheric temperature of the planet. Numerous human activities as well as natural events are becoming the source of increase in the average temperature of the planet. This occurs principally due to the increase in “Greenhouse” gases, such as Carbon dioxide. Such warming planet not only affects nature, but also disturbs human beings is other living creatures.

The United States metrological agency, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration pointed that there are seven indicators that point increase in global warming. The seven indicators include, increase in sea surface temperature, increase in temperature over ocean, increase in humidity, increase in tropospheric temperature, increasing sea level, increase in ocean heat content and increase in temperature over land (Shah, A. 2012). Out of these seven pointers, most are observable in our local environment.

From the last couple of decades, global warming has drastically increased transversely across the globe, which also includes climate and environmental change in United Kingdom. The most widespread cause of global warming is industrial development. Especially those industries, which emit greenhouse gases, as opposed to their production. Power Stations got considered amongst the most causative source of global warming. Power Houses driven and operated by coal; emits the most amount of contaminated gasses in the atmosphere. However, many power stations are now got converted to the gas-driven operation, but still are not efficient enough to get complete control over greenhouse gas emission.

Overview of the Case

The paper is structured to respond upon environmental issues and critically scrutinize the broader consequences and effects of those issues upon the future climate change of U.K. The British government is considering the increasing global warming affects in U.K. region. The power stations, which are coal-driven emits harmful gasses that cause global warming. Whereas, relatively to a lesser extent, the gas operated power stations also emits poisonous gasses. If these power stations got replace by nuclear power plants, the risks arise with the accidental demolition of the stations, and management of their waste material. Nuclear Power Stations could be more damaging and detrimental than coal and gas driven power stations. However, the installation of wind turbines can diminish the emission of noxious gasses, but simultaneously it also requires abolishing some of the most beautiful country sites of United Kingdom.

Global Warming Effects on U.K. Climate

Metrological researchers predicted that by 2012, heat wave will occur in the south-eastern region of England, which would become a cause for 3000 to 10,000 deaths. However, nothing such had happened, but the concerns raised in such studies are considerable for constantly changing atmosphere across England.
