Introduction

Five Guys Burgers and Fries started off their business operation in the year 1986 by selling juicy fries and burgers. Jerry Murrell is the CEO of the company. One day his two sons came up to him and told him that they do not want to go to college anymore; Murrell suggested them to open up a hamburger business. This is how Five Guys opened up a business in Arlington, Va. This company had a strong business philosophy which helped it flourish from the first day and made it a unique and enticing place to come to for burgers. The company had its original values as a startup company and some ethical and social practices which makes it a strong company today in such a short time span.

The discussion continues to review Five Guys Burgers and Fries (FGBF) had their own philosophy which makes them different from other restaurants, their values and factors to success and social and ethical practices that are part of their business. FGBF had a simply stated menu and mission as a startup company. The initial statement of the company says that “we are in the business of selling burgers” (Richtman). This statement was the basis of this company on which their whole business relied. Their philosophy only relied on two things and that includes people and the food. Therefore their ideal burgers are the key to set up this business apart from the rest of the businesses. In order to sell the best burgers around, they only focus on cleanliness, quality and service (Miokovic, 2001).
