Discuss the Causes, Effects and Solutions for Water Pollution

The first question which comes to mind is “What causes water pollution?” Water pollution is caused due to a number of reasons. The most common one is that it is actually a consequence of the wastage thrown into the water streams. Moreover water pollution also rises due to chemical leakages. Moreover, other major causes of water pollution are plastic bags, cups, bottles, straws etc. for the reason that plastics take approximately four hundred and fifty years to decompose in the water. Since products made up of plastic can float on the water can and be carried by the wind; therefore it can be damaging for creatures living miles and miles away.

In the past, ships were used to carry lots of garbage so as to dump them into deep water. It was a very common practice until the government charged the sailors up to one million dollars fine on this illegitimate act. At present, the government is penalizing people for prohibited dumping of waste in deep seas, rivers and water streams etc. However, this is the only effort done by the government regarding this very serious concern.

Moreover, a number of companies throw their chemical wastes into the waterways which eventually cause water pollution. Also the chemicals used in farming give rise to water pollution. This is the reason why they get algal blooms; where we all know that algal blooms are other prominent things which are harmful for the marine life. Algal blooms are actually bundles of fine rusty brown threads, having a fishy smell which are not only detrimental for animals but for other creatures as well. There are certain things like fishing lines, plastic nets and ropes that are being caught in the rudder as well as the engine; however the ships are not precisely ideal for this purpose.
