The term dialect is used in two different ways. The first usage of dialect is related to a variety of languages of a group. The other one refers to a language which is socially subordinate to a regional or national standard language. The dialect diversity may range from geography to the composite idea of cultural identity. In most of the countries, there are different languages spoken by individuals. This is due to cultural and geographic differences. The dialect of language is also due to the immigrants of individuals who bring in their own customs, way of living and traditions. Although they have to get themselves compliant with the norms and values of that country in which they have migrated, but most of them fails to adopt the language and culture of the country.
The history of American English does not begin with the first arrival of English speakers in America. Some of the characteristics found remains dominant in the varieties of American English can be attributed to dialect differences that existed in the British Isles before the British colonization of America began (Walt Wolfram, 2006). In this research paper, we will be discussing the two dialect languages which are widely used in the American society and how the society perceives these languages. One is the African American language; the other is the Latino English.
