Like many pet owners, I too love pets. After a grueling day at work, going home to an animal which cannot nag you or ask questions and in fact just seeks your love can be relieving and satisfying at the same time. An interaction with your pet can not only make you forget your tensions, but also invigorate you.
Whether the pet owned be a conventional one, such as a dog or a cat, or an exotic one, such as reptiles and amphibians, the benefits of owning a pet can far outweigh the costs associated. Having a pet can teach the owner responsibility, time management, nurturing, and provide health benefits.
While my love exists for animals of all types, my current pet is a dog of the German Shepherd Breed. These dogs are fine animals and have traits which make them a great protector of your home; companion for your family; and partner in solitude. They are also suited for working roles and dog shows, and are preferred breeds with law enforcement agencies worldwide.
However, taking care of a German Shepherd requires time, dedication, and patience. The training process for this breed is more cumbersome, as they require intensive obedience training, socialization, and reproductive management. With regards to obedience training, the lack of it can make this dog defiant of its master as it can at times be very independent. Socialization is essential; otherwise the dog can be unaccustomed towards humans, other dogs, and other animals and may be either hyperactive or shy around them. The dog must also either be neutered or have a strict mating schedule, as improper management may elevate sexual hormones and make the dog prone to aggression (Chavez, Opazo, 2012).

The United States is one of the world's most liberal and progressive nations. American society has held the pioneering position globally with regards to shaking off social taboos, racism, and gender-bias. The abolishment of slavery; an open immigration policy throughout the twentieth century; the civil-rights, feminist, and GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered) movements have revolutionized not just Americans, but were used as examples of progress worldwide. The incorporation of these in official legislation had provided a model framework for the rest of the world.
However, pockets of discrimination have always existed. Many White supremacist groups, such as the Klu Klux Klan, still harbored resentment for African Americans. Furthermore, the heavy wave of immigrants in their workforce and communities over the last 50 years had bred bitterness towards them from some resident groups. In addition, research shows that demographics can at times present a certain bias in court judgments (Honoree, et al, 2010).
With regards to sexual discrimination, it is hard to compare the performance of the United States with any other country. Over the years, people with homosexual orientation were allowed to be inducted in the army and women had achieved powerful positions in government and private ...
