Ouestion 1- Economic Theory Of Statistical Discrimination And Relationship With Workplace

United States have many laws, acts, and policies designed to prevent discrimination in the workplace. It can be stated that the discrimination in workplace is menacing the corporate environment. This consequently results in various issues threatening the internal organization. The economic theory of statistical discrimination refers to the conjecture causing racial or gender inequality based on stereotypes (Steinpreis, 1999). This theory is related to workplace up to some extent. The problems created by inequality may prevail in organization due to various factors such as stereotyping and prejudice. However, many organizations have developed laws to avoid any mishaps occurring due to these issues (Dovidio, 1997).

Question 2 - Statistical Discrimination versus Theory of Unconscious Bias

Statistical discrimination and theory of unconscious bias can be distinguished in the basis of various aspects. The discrimination is caused by differences in characteristics such as race, social class, gender, culture, and other factors. However, unconscious biasness is not the resultant of deliberate discrimination. It is caused by subliminal or implicit social cognition in workplace. This implies that it is affected by diversity. Sometimes it is unusual for individuals accept difference and desirable, and reverse patterns of discrimination. Thus, it is pivotal for organizations to maintain regulations to overcome such issues proactively (Modjeska, 1993).

Question 3 - The Need for Antidiscrimination Laws & Policies

The antidiscrimination laws and policies are highly required in organizations and workplaces. This is due to the increase in discrimination and unconscious biasness. Therefore, many agencies are working towards establishing laws and regulations to overcome these issues related to discrimination. The theories related to discrimination such as economic theory of statistical discrimination support the claims for developing laws to control these issues. The reason behind this assertion is the trends and policies speculated regarding the past rising discrimination in organizations. The diversified organizational culture often creates the basis of discrimination which is inevitable.

Question 4 - Irrelevant Current Laws & Policies Relating To Workplace Protection

The federal agencies involved in developing and maintaining laws related to workplace protection are constantly outlining and updating these policies. However, there are certain laws which needs to be revamped and cannot be ignored. There is no specific law that needs to be replaced due to its implementation. It should be considered according to the current circumstances provided by the companies to cater the victims of discrimination and prejudice. All that can be done is the steady and continuous monitoring of these laws and policies with respect to their prevalence in companies to avoid such menace of discrimination.

Question 5 - The Need of Additional Legislation or Enforcement in Area of Antidiscrimination in Workplace

The rising trend of discrimination due to diversity in workplace is also increasing the need of additional and supplementary legislation enforcement.
