Introduction

Training and development is the subject area of Human Resource Management which is associated with the activity of organization that aimed at improving organizational overall performance by means of improving individuals and groups of organization. It has also been regarded by other names such as learning and development, and human resource development. The challenges that are linked with the continuously modifying business nature and also of workplace environment are a clear cut reality that can never be ignored. Frequent change needs a knowledgeable, skilled, and well-trained workforce along with increased flexibility, adaption, and future orientation. One of the greatest responsibilities of manager other than managing work tasks is to develop the staff in terms of their learning and skills. In an organization, there is an essential need to encourage employees' growth and to develop their career by coaching them and by assisting them effectively so that they could be enable for achieving their personal as well as organizational goals and objectives. In the context of human resource management, this overall process is regarded as the “Training and Development.” (Arthur, 1995).

In this paper, a leadership development program will be strategized that could be able to drive some business drivers for the company. Moreover, the program will encompass a brief overview of the career development process and the description that why there is a need to select such strategies for a company.

Purpose of Leadership Development Plan

A leadership development program that is required to be prepared in this paper is to acquire business drivers for the company so that it could compete successfully with its competitors. The business drivers that are estimated for the company in this regard are as follows: building a collaborative and innovative culture; becoming an employer of choice in the competitive markets; introducing minimum of one new product in a year consecutively for five upcoming years; growing business a minimum of 10 percent consecutively for five upcoming years; and taking time and errors out of claims dispensation for increasing the business productivity. These defined goals will be beneficial for the organization in order to compete successfully in the highly competitive market but, on the other side, these goals will also assist an employee of individual to improve his/her learning. If the learning of an individual will enhance then it will ultimately help him/her in developing new knowledge, skills, and abilities for them. This process of organizational learning and development intents to develop employees in an organization so that then they could be more rapidly and deservedly evaluated for the personal as well as career growth and promotions (Richard, 2008).
