A short analysis of the situation and why it is a potentially important employee relations problem

The employee relation problem in this case deals with the absenteeism rate of the employees. Currently, a major problem that is increasing day by day and experienced by many companies is absenteeism. Absenteeism labor is a factor that must be known and try to minimize it in a company, because in high levels can become a source of lost productivity. Absenteeism is a major problem in any company, public or private, or nonprofit, whether of services or production has a negative effect for the fulfillment of the objectives and mission of it (Hanebuth, Dirk, 2008, p. 115-134). Stephen Robbins says: "Absenteeism is an important aspect to consider in business that is why we say that we must plan and develop strategies to control the causes that originate, making decisions to reduce the lack of employees to work, creating a culture that achieves welcome good initiatives and discard the bad" (Hanebuth, Dirk, 2008, p. 115-134). The origin of absenteeism, consistent with the existence of a multi-factorial etiology, where individual factors interact residing in the person taking the worker as the basic unit of the company or organization working with concerns, expectations, needs, values , skills, knowledge , etc, another factor involved, are the labor issues that relate to the conditions and environment in the work , and finally environmental factors or extra work determined by the social environment in which they operate these companies or organizations (Hanebuth, Dirk, 2008, p. 115-134).

According to a publication in the "Journal of Medical IMSS", most of the population of the world (58%) spends a third of their adult lives at work, the working population comprises at 69-70% of adult men and 30 to 60% of adult women. In the United States the annual absenteeism rate was 5.1 companies and workers in health about 7 days per year. In Europe Eastern found absenteeism rates twice as high as those found in the U.S. and Japan. Absenteeism is associated with biographical factors such as advanced age, sex and female family great, with organizational characteristics in large and with the content of work talking high responsibility , autonomy and low levels of work, besides other high correlations with development of work and travel distances to work. This phenomenon has been studied and researched as many times, especially in highly industrialized developed countries, within which we can mention: Japan, Germany, Canada and the United States. James Stoner says: It is known that every company or organization must keep the truancy within its ranks because this factor greatly change the cost, it is clear that the company could not reach their goals if employees do not go to work.
