CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Introduction

This study would be based on determining the impact of employee happiness on the productivity. This topic of the study was considered significant to be chosen as it consists of significant importance for research in the perspective of workplace happiness. Research also states that individuals consider work as an obstacle which must be overcome in order to receive compensation and afford the necessities of life such as food and shelter which is an important factor for living furthermore, luxuries should also be rewarded in case of work which is unsatisfying (Ken, 2006, p.45). Though work is considered as the factor which consumes the workers time and they spend most of their time. Workplace happiness is considered as a significant factor which serves as a platform for facing the challenges faced by workers and employees in the modern world.

Background

Employee motivation is considered as an important aspect in this regard which leads to the profitability of the organization (Lawrence, Marc, Robert, 2001, 76). The ownership of employees for their work leads them to be motivated and increase the performance as well as efficiency of employees. This effective performance helps the organization to earn profit. In business, profit is considered as a crucial factor which is positively associated to the performance of employees. For making the business successful it is essential that the employees in the organization should perform up to their mark. Certain factors are such as motivation help in escalating the performance of employees. Motivational factor is vital for performance of employees.

Context of Study

The key reason for choosing this study was to know the role of management in motivating employees in an organization. Since, there is recession nowadays therefore organizations are focusing on downsizing. Those who survive from downsizing have workload on them. In this regard there should be certain motivational factor which helps the employees to achieve the goals and help in making the company successful as they are a significant part of the organization. Some organizations disregard the concept of using motivational factors with their staff. This results in the turnover of employees and reduces their productivity as they feel de-motivated (Kevin, 2011, p.45). Therefore, it is important to understand the concept of implication of motivation in an organization. This research paper is a guide which helps in understanding the concept of motivation and to explore the concepts related to it.
