Informative Abstract

In the past five years there has been an increase in the number of work related accident that have cause a significant amount of lost man hours on the job. These accidents have been occurring due to improper perception of the safety program and employees this trust of the program. The unwillingness to seek the proper help in order to address safety issues is becoming a concern to big business. The costs of accident on the job have increased beyond reason, so in order to adjust the common worker attitude towards safety it paramount that the worker see the benefits of safety by better involving him into the program. The goal of this paper is to outline the differences between the standard safety programs, as we know it today and one that heavy involves the employee and empower him the decision make power while work. In this proposal I have provided example of the two programs, a Safety Program and Employee-Driven Safety Program. I have also provided a breakdown of the cost to run each program, and the number mishap that have taken place over the course of a year. It is suggested that effective and efficient employee driven safety programs should be priority of every organization as every individual has the right to work in safe and healthy environment. By providing safe and healthy environment to employees through efficient safety programs, organizations can not only save their employees but also themselves from facing any legal issues.

Under RIDDOR 111000 other injuries to employee were reported. In many countries there are no reliable records and reports transmission mechanisms, it is assumed that the numbers are actually much higher. The number of fatalities in developing countries is much higher than in industrialized countries, a difference that is mainly due to the existence of better safety programs. Some of the industries in the world with the highest risk of accidents ...
