Critical Analysis of the Difference between an Employee, an Independent Contractor and a Home Worker
Introduction
Home workers are explained as people those are working from their homes or some other places where they feel comfortable rather than they work at offices. They work for the same purposes like people do work at office premises, such as payments, salaries, benefits, compensation (Alex Davies, 2011, p.184).
An employee is a person who is recruited by an employer to do a certain task or job. Employee is hired after a process of writing test, interview and other types of the evaluation process. There is a difference between an employee and a home worker (Alex Davies, 2011, p.184).
An independent contractor is a person who provides good or services to another company under a certain contract or through verbal agreement. It has a different role to play in comparison with an employee and a home worker (Stephen Taylor, Astra Emir, 2012, p. 63). In this paper, I will analyze these three different forms of employment and critically look into their job description criteria.
Discussion
There are millions of people working as home workers globally. These employees work in an unconventional manner as they do not have to come to office premises regularly. They generally perform their task right from their homes (Usa, 2012, pp. 242).
Nowadays this phenomenon of home based workers is being increased due to the enhancement of technology. It is currently far easy to work from their desired places. These workers have to abide the rules and regulations of the company. They come under the heading of employee for the company. They are truly associated by the name of the company. Normally, IT companies hire such workers.
Home workers do not own the business they work for. Sometimes, home workers are hired for a temporary period by the employer. After the completion of the targeted task; these people are paid and get free. Home workers mostly associated with information sharing industry, designing computer software, graphic designing and content writing. Home base jobs are suitable for IT sector, telecommunication, newspaper, information industry like news reporting.
