Summary

Emergency Evacuation is said to be an organized set of events that are aimed towards eradication of hazard zone of not only people but also animals as well as properties that may hurt any of them. Emergency evacuation can also be termed as a rapid movement or immediate action of people from an actual threat from a hazardous situation (Abraham, 1994). Evacuation can vary in terms of magnitude that is it could be a small scale evacuation due to the threat of bombing or it could be a large scale evacuation that is in times of hurricane or floods. There can also be evacuation in times of possible contamination where the evacuees cannot be instantly asked or aided in evacuation since they have to be decontaminated before they can come into contact with the people outside. The process of evacuation can also be carried out before; during and after the hazardous or disastrous situation can take place. The type of disasters that requires effective planning of evacuation are bushfire, tsunamis, cyclones, floods, military attacks, earthquakes, hurricanes, viral outbreak, industrial accidents, military battles, chemical spill, traffic accidents, structural failure, fire, terrorist attacks and bombings.
