STEM CELLS

Stem cells are biological cells that are found in the multicellular organisms that can divide through the process of mitosis, and can be differentiated into a diverse specialized cells types or can self renew for the production of more stem cells. There are two broad types of stem cells in mammals; the embryonic stem cells that are isolated from the inner cell mass of the blastocysts while the adult stem cells that are usually found in different tissues. In adult organisms the stem cells and progenitor cells act in the process of repairmen in the body, reloaded in the adult tissues. These cells in the developing embryo can be differentiated into the specialized cells but these can maintain the normal turnover for the regenerative organs for instance the skin, blood and the intestinal tissues (Braam, 2010).

Adult Stem Cells and Embryonic Stem Cells

Embryonic Stem Cells

Embryonic stem cells are cultures of cells that are derived from the epiblast tissues of the inner cell mass of the blastocyst or the during the early stage of the morula stage embryos. The blastocyst is an early stage embryo which is about four to five days old in the human being. It consists of about 50 - 150 cells in human being.

The Embryonic Stem cells are the pluripotent which gives rise for the development or during the process of development for all the derivatives for the three primary germ layers the ectoderm, the endoderm and the mesoderm.

The embryonic stems cells can be developed into each of the four cell types of the adult body that given sufficient and necessary stimulation for the particular type of cell. These cells have no contribution towards the placenta or the extra embryonic membrane.

The endoderm is composed of entire gut tube and the lungs, while the ectoderm gives rise to the skin and the nervous system, on the other hand the mesoderm gives rise to the blood, bone, muscles almost everything else which connects the ectoderm to the endoderm.

Adult Stem Cells

The adult stem cells are also called the somatic sperm cells and germline which gives rise to gametes, stem cells. These cells can be found in the adults as well as in children also. Pluripotent adult stem cells are generally small and rare in numbers, but these can be found in various tissues which includes umbilical cord blood. The research has emphasized a great deal on clarifying their capacity for dividing or self renew indefinitely and potential differentiation.

Multipotent stem cells are found in the amniotic fluid. These stem cells are extensive expanded, active without feeders and these are also not tumorigenic. From the ethical perspective the stem cells from the amniotic fluid can solve various problems because it is possible to catch such amniotic stem cells without the destruction of the embryo. According to the Vatican newspaper in which the Osservatore Romano called as the future of medicines.

It is possible that the amniotic stem cells for the use of autoguous or ...
