Eliot Furness Porter (1901-1990), born in Illinois, USA, was one of America's finest photographers in colored nature photography. Eliot was drawn to photography since a considerably young age. He explored his passion for photography on the Great Spruce Head Island that his family owned. He went on to earn a professional degree in chemical engineering and medicine. For several years, Porter continued to work as a researcher, focusing on biochemistry, at Harvard. Porter had his first exhibition in 1938 and began working with colors in 1940, sticking to this photography style his whole life.
