When our memories about “art film” still stay in Antonioni and Godard's era, Gus Van Sant unexpectedly knocks the door, and says, “Hey, it is century twenty-one.” Sant's Elephant provides no enlightenment or meaning of making this film but the absurdity and tries to hunt those young people who are ignorant. The film introduces the viewers with a long shot of the day to the night sky above a telegraph pole.
