Introduction

The child molestation is a serious issue in any society that keeps on remaining despite the implementation of the strict laws and punishments. The cases of child abuse are found very often in United States as well as in other countries. The child molestation is also called child sexual abuse in which the child is violently abused sexually, and the sexual acts are carried out upon a child. The adults and sometimes the child's peers are the people who carry out such activities. The innocent child is forced to take part in the activities of a sexual nature. The sexual abuse is not only restricted to the physical abuse by contacting the child physically; however, it also involves giving the child exposure to sexual activities being conducted by others, or by having or by showing the child pornography. Various cases have shown that, besides adults, the peers who are relatively of elder age than the child are actively involved in child abuse.

The victims of sexual abuse, who are the innocent children, have very negative impact of upon their lives. The effects are not only short term, but they affect the child in the long term too. As the children are innocent and they are scared of telling people about what had happened to them, therefore, they could not tell appropriately what they are having the problem. The children also face severe mental disorders and problems because of molestation. The following section discusses the effects of child molestation upon the physical as well as mental health of the child and the role that parents and therapists can play in healing the child from such deep psychological wounds.

The impact of child molestation or child sexual abuse is very adverse. The proper care and practical approaches are required in order to take out the child from such negative situations. There are many types of negative effects upon the children who face sexual abuses. Some of the effects can be seen as they appear upon the children while some of the effects cannot be seen upon the children as they develop inside the child's mind, attitude and behavior.

Especially the children, who face most serious form of abuse in which the own family member of children is involved, are found to have severe negative impacts upon the physical as well as upon mental health. Their behaviors are significantly changed, and the children begin to expose aggressive behaviors and attitudes in their daily life situations. It is also found that the child who has already been abused by the adult, sexually, is also abused emotionally by his/her parents. There are other elements that keep on reminding the child about the sexual abuses.
