CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Alternate energy sources are a new theme that has been discussed rather an allotment in the last couple of years. Scientists are beginning to recognize that our energy sources are depleting, or getting very harmful for the environment. We know that the environment can take a certain amount of these consume fumes and toxins, but we are expelling too much for our planet's system to handle. We are just now realizing how awful we have started to decimate our planet, and how the consequences of our impairment we have done, are lasting longer than we hoped. Our major sources of these difficulties of the past century have been mainly, fossil fuels. The cause being, that our major source of energy has furthermore been fossil fuels.

Fossil fuels are fuels that outcome from the fossilization process of dwelling tissue after millions of years. Coal and crude petroleum are the fossil fuel, raw sources. Some handicaps in the utilization of coal are that there are problems with getting this pattern of fossil fuel. First, the extraction of the coal from the ground can be very expensive. Most coal down payments utilized to lie nearer to the surface, but we used coal as our prime source of energy before. The nearest coal is now used up, and we need to cut into well underneath the surface of the earth. This means that exceptional drilling, the creation of mine shafts must be paid for.
