Introduction

Communication skills are the most essential part of our life. It is the feeling that how you behave with others, crossing the barriers & hurdles. Effective communication involves many factors such as facial expressions, personal appearance, gesture, and body language. Effective communication is very important for health care industry because misunderstanding in it can cause harm to many. In health care industry, a health care professional should know the rules of effective communication to handle their patients (Young and Westernoff, 1996). The individuals having difficulty in expressing their issues should be handled carefully, especially the ill, and disable patients. Poor sight is also a barrier in effective communication, and it should be treated calmly through proper medical aids. Effective communication skills can be achieved by using simple words and easy sentences, keeping in mind the ability of the listener. Therefore, it is the responsibility for a health care professional to communicate effectively with the patients (Pearson, 2010).

Effective communications mean the ability of one individual to communicate h/her message to the other person so clearly that the latter understand it without any difficulty. As stated by Steven Covey, the author of bestselling book “The seven habits of highly effective people”, 90% of the global problems and conflicts can be resolved if the individuals are able to clearly and effectively communicate their intended message to their respective audiences (Covey, 2004).

Discussion

In the process of communication, an individual sends a message which is understood by the other person. When an idea is perceived by a person and then he codes it in the form of a message then it is known as a communication cycle. This message is then sent to the person who receives it and it is further understood by the person (Btech, 2011).
