Introduction

Military power is based on firepower and mobility. Whoever manages to focus greater destructive force than the enemy at a specified location wins the battle? Achieve global domination means ensuring greater mobility of this firepower by giving a very broad scope and ensuring that large volumes can be moved quickly. Power projection is the keyword: being able to move its military power around the world. The United States has the largest and most powerful military potential ever known (Baker, 2010). Their warships dominate the oceans. Missiles and bombers can reach targets on all continents. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers stationed overseas. Many countries conduct military operations, but the United States is a unique case, as the power of their military potential because they are likely to use this power effectively.

Discussion

The existence and activities of US armed forces in foreign lands over a period of 10 years has made many suspicions to emerge regarding the US administration. Although, bringing in peace in the region was primarily the first priority but it has taken a different phase. It is always declared that the reason behind US troop's involvement in other states is to stabilize and freed the people of that country, but the main question arises that why US government failed to call back and withdraw its troops from the states like Iraq and Afghanistan. The key policy makers do not have any kind of strategy for the termination of ongoing wars although they presented an exit strategy. However, research indicates that the invasions that take place during the twentieth century did not carry war as the sole purpose. It is said that it was for the purpose of transforming the government form along with the infrastructure development.

The US administration has setup a network of military base all around the world for the purpose of spreading their military power. This network supplies all the supportive material for the military movements around the world. The military troops are placed close to rapid transit lines for the effective movement. A major function of these bases is to provide information and communication about the happenings in the world.

In addition to setting up these bases, US administration has also attained landing clearances for aircrafts, pacts for the usage of ports of other territories, permissions to use highways and railways of other countries in order to strengthen the military operations worldwide. During the presidential campaign of 2008, Barack Obama supported the proposition of sending in more troops of US army to Afghanistan.

After the September 11, 2001 the government and the U.S. Congress launched a formidable military budget increase. In 2001, the military budget came to 307,000 million. The budget for 2002 amounted to 339,000 million and its message about the state of the Union in February 2002, President Bush proposed that the 2003 budget will reach 379,000 million.
