Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to make discussion on the potential benefits of the educational trips, and the challenges encountered when undertaking educational visits based on secondary school children that are 11-16 years old. The second section of this paper is to write a report on the persona experience of an educational trip undertaken at school with students and other members of staff. This section describes my role, and the way the event has been organised. This section describes the complete process to be undertaken before organising an event.

Section 1: Potential Benefits and the challenges of educational trips

This section discusses the potential benefits and challenges of the educational trips, when undertaking the educational visits based on secondary school education that is 11-16 years old. Educational trips are very helpful and informative for the students of secondary school education (Al-Bataineh, 2008). The students of secondary school education are taken as the adult students, and they are in the growing age. At this age, students start to capture the things and grab the concepts in their minds. Therefore, there is a great need for the educational institutes or parents to take their children and students to the educational trips. Educational trips help the students in grabbing knowledge and expertise about the different concepts. Such trips help in the enhancement of the learning of various subjects. Educational trips also provide the precious time to students, in which they can have proper interaction with their fellows. Students can also gain new and creative experiences through these educational trips. There are many institutions that prefer taking their students to the educational trips. The educational trips can be of any kind, for example, it can be a trip to the museum, factories, industries, companies and historical places (Borsheim, 2008). The botanical students can also visit the parks, where they can get the complete information and proper knowledge about the plants and their types. It is a general phenomenon that practical work helps in enhancement of learning than the verbal. When the students see the plant and make an observation on it, only then they can completely grasp the knowledge and information about that specific plant. Similarly, schools can take their biological students to the hospitals, where they can the complete and sound knowledge about the body parts and their mechanisms. The important thing for the institutes or the teachers is to make rationale decision in selecting the type of the trips. Simple excursion is also a type of educational trips, and this helps the students in learning the benefits of physical activities. Every student needs to acquire proper skills and expertise in a particular subject he studies. In order to prepare students for the future environment, it is necessary for the institutes to take them to the educational trips, where they can get the complete information about the people and the cultures (Altun, 2007).
