What particular skills are needed at each stage of consultancy?
The consultancy process that I intend to go through in handling the workplace problem will be based on five consultancy stages. The stages of the consultancy process that I would be using in managing the issues found in the workplace will be as follows:
Entry
Diagnosis
Influencing
Contracting
Transition
The above stated are the five broad stages of consultancy process. Each of this process would require particular skills in order to have the desired outcomes.
Entry:
This is the initial stage of the consultancy process in which the consultant is required to develop effective rapport or relationship with the FedEx Company or an individual who requires consultancy for any prevailing issue. The skills that are required in effectively clearing this stage are interpersonal skills that are effective in maintaining sound relationships.
Contracting:
Second stage of the consultancy process is contracting in which the consultant and the FedEx Company agree on what the task is and how it will be handled. The role of the consultant and the FedEx Company is cleared at this very stage. In this particular stage of consultancy the consultant is required to have negotiating skills.
Diagnosis:
In this stage the information and ideas are collected to reach the required decision or a plan of action that will help in resolving the issues that are found in the workplace of the FedEx Company's organization. The particular skills that are required in completing this stage are investigative and diagnostic skills.
Intervention:
Intervention is the second last stage in the consultancy process; in this stage the role of consultant is vital. The consultant is required to take actions in order to deliver the required outcomes. The consultant is often required to submit a detailed report and inform the FedEx Company about the changes that are required in managing the changes. The skills that are required to fulfill this stage effectively are presentation and analytical skills.
Withdrawal:
The last stage of the consultancy process is withdrawal that ensures the FedEx Company that now it can manage the workplace activities on its own with no support of the consultant. At this particular stage the consultant provides framework that will help in achieving the desired results. The skills that are needed in fulfilling this stage are motivational skills (Sturdy, 2009, p.247).
