Honor codes also known as the honor system is said to be a collection or set of rules and regulations that govern an entity and it is based on those set of rules and regulations that enables an entity to attain an honorable status in the society that it is operating in. Honor codes enable an entity or an organization to trust an individual based on which an entity will develop a relationship of trust. Honor codes are utilized in United States of America to be a source of deterrence to the academic dishonesty (The Centre of Academic Integrity, 1999).
Georgetown University
Georgetown University's honor code states that student that is found to conduct academic dishonesty or hinders the academic integrity along with the impingement of intellectual rights is strictly prohibited.

Cheating: It states that cheating can be defined as the utilization of unapproved materials, data, and educational aids along with unapproved collaboration amidst students upon the conduction of examination or taking the exam papers home. If a student is caught aiding another student to cheat amidst examination can also be termed as academic fraud.
Plagiarism: Plagiarism can be defined as copying or stealing the content of a secondary source and terming it as one's own property. Plagiarism, whether it is intentional or unintentional breaches the code of conduct of the academic integrity. It also states that students are said to be responsible of educating themselves and also utilizing the proper mode attaining the academic credit. The faculty has every right to use any mode for the assessment of the credibility of the work that is submitted by the students. For instance, the faculty has every right to submit the work that is submitted by the students to e-Search engines which includes “Turnitin”, which is a service that is used by various universities including Georgetown. It is upon subscription that universities are able to use the electronic plagiarism checker.
Utilization of false citation: False citation or false referencing is termed as an academic fraud. False citation or referencing is said to be an act of attribution of a personal property with fabricated sourcing in order to deceive the university.
Multiple Submissions: Students are not allowed to submit one piece of work for multiple assignments without the approval of the faculty members to whom the work was submitted previously. This not only includes work that was done in Georgetown university but also other universities or institutions.
Submission of false data: An attempt made by the students to forge or copy or render documentation which also includes medical certification of absence, transcripts, registration forms and certificates of good standing.
Misuse of Library privilege: Depriving or restricting the access of library or its material is a constituent of the prohibited code of conduct list.
