This paper will be focusing on the issues that are currently being faced in the Middle East. For this the paper will highlight Syria. There were a couple of recent events that happened in Syria. The paper will be talking about the latest Shia-Sunni conflicts and will also be discussing about the possibility of the involvement of the UK in arming the Syrian rebels. Both these issues were published in editorials. The former is an editorial taken from 'The Guardian', where this article was published on the 5th of May, 2013 . The later was taken from 'The Independent', published on the 28th of May,2013 by Arj Singh and David Hughes.
Over the years, due to many events, such as the gulf wars and other issues in the region, Syria has become involved in many controversies. There is an ongoing civil war in the country that has greatly affected the peace and stability of the country,(Lesch, 1991). Then there are rebel groups that are recognized as the Islamic fundamentalists, supported by Iran. Israel on the other hand is continuing with the Arial strike that is causing even more damage, (Guardian, 2013).
The prominent political figure, Hasan Nasrullah warned that any aggression or offence coming to the Shias will be met with dire consequencies. There was a recent attack on the Shia shrine, that made most fear of a regionwide outrage. The author also holds an opinion that theremight be an involvement from the Iranian side for assisting the Shias of Syria.On the other hand, UK might involve itself in providing the much needed arms and ammunition to the Syrian rebels, as stated by William Hague.

It was confirmed for the first time by Hasan Nasrullah that the Hezbollah fighters are engaged in helping the Bashar al-Assad. Nasrullah also warned that any attack on the shrine of the Shia Muslims, Sayyida Zeinab at Damascus will have dangerous consequences. The shrine was crowded by the Shia fighters of the Iraq and Lebanon when a Shia shrine was attacked, near the capital city of Damascus. Iran, on the other hand made a statement that it is ready to give training to the army of Basher-al-Assad. It was, however ruled out that there was an involvement from the Iranian side in this attack. The Shia militia of the Nasrullah was also involved in the Syrian civil war. There were air strikes caused by the Israelis against the store houses of the Iranian missiles, in the custody of the Hezbollah. With what happened in a week's time, Syria now is threatening to become a regional conflagration, volatile in nature. Israel on the other hand has a strong opinion that the Syrians and the Hezbollah will not retaliate. They are of the opinion that Assad has some concerns that are immediate in the nature.
