The major strength of this research is that the article has conducted a vast research from the past 50 years. This ensures that the results and findings of the research are authentic.
There are no major weaknesses of the research though the research article should have provided more recommendations for further research.
Article 2
2001
The major strength of the article is that it has determined separate themes and has discussed them in detail. The article has provided with the interviews of the patients as well as literature research of different journal articles.
The major weakness of the article it should have utilized a mixed research method approach to yield more appropriate and authentic results.

California
Key Concepts/ Variables:
To determine the Variations in Patients' Adherence to Medical
Recommendations in the past 50years of research
Framework/Theory:
To retrieve, compile and averaging the rates adherence in the studies from 1948 to 1998
Design Type:
Quantitative
Sample:
569 empirical studies
Data Sources:
The data sources was collected from PsychLit and Medline
Statistical Tests:
SPSS 10.0 was used to analyze the data
Findings/Themes:
The results show that a higher level of adherence is attained through more circumscribed regimens and in certain situations in which the patients have resources but it is not merely due to the functions of severity of illness or characteristics of demographics of gender and age.

To determine the patient satisfaction with the health care
Design Type:
Qualitative
Sample:
A convenience sample of 199 hospitalized adult patients in a public hospital
Data Sources:
Data was collected through interviews conducted from the patients and furthermore, a literature search was conducted from PubMed and CINAHL databases

Thematic Analysis
Article 1
The article, “Variations in Patients' Adherence to Medical Recommendations,” written by Robin DiMatteo retrieves and compiles the different studies from the past 50 years regarding the patient adherence to the medical recommendations. This article is a meta-analysis of 569 studies reporting adherence to medical treatment. According to the results and findings of the article the average nonadherence rate is 24.8%. Adherence is highest in HIV disease, arthritis, gastrointestinal disorders, and cancer and lowest in pulmonary disease, diabetes, and sleep. According to the article, the medical adherence is defined as active and appropriate behavior from the patient working to achieve therapeutic goals defined jointly between the patient and the professional. It underlies the treatment was negotiated between the doctor and the patient and he was prescribed at the right time (the notion of consistency to readiness and treatment) and then the patient continued satisfactory long-term (notion of persistence). The adherence in treatment in chronic disease is defined as a continuum ...
