This papers aims to highlight the prevalence of unlawful drug market in the USA. It intends to highlight the fact that it's' the Mexicans and Colombian groups that are majorly responsible for smuggling of drugs all over the US.

Introduction

The drug trafficking is one of the most lucrative trades that happens in the US. It is responsible for attracting the best of the sophisticated, ruthless and hostile drug mafias. The agencies which are responsible for drug law enforcements have to face huge obstacles when protecting the border's of the country as big as the US. Every year, the U.S Customs Service states that around 60 million humans gain entry to the US through more than 650,000 private and commercial flights. 370 million more of them gain entrance via the land routes and 6 million enter through the naval route. Additionally, more than 116 million automobiles gain entrance from the borders of the neighboring countries Mexico and Canada. The number of passenger and merchants ships that dock at the ports of the American soil number to over 90,000. These naval giants host over 400 million tons of cargo and 9 million shipping containers. Additionally 157,000 smaller ships and boats regularly visit the coastal towns of US.

It is among such a flourishing trade of goods and humans, that the trafficking also takes place. The scope of the problem can now be realized as how difficult it is for the authority to try to put a plug on the huge drug trafficking trade of concealed heroin, cocaine, MDMA, methamphetamine and marijuana take place regularly targeting the US neighborhoods.

Underground gangs and groups that are in South America regularly smuggle heroin and cocaine to the US through a huge variety of channels like maritime channels near the East and West of the Mexico Coast, land paths leading across Mexico, naval routes cross tine Caribbean and the Aerial routes as well. Additionally, more such illegal gangs smuggle heroin, marijuana, cocaine and other drugs from Mexico in the US. This smuggling is ongoing from the 1970's till the modern times in spite of the best efforts of the US government to stamp them out. Underworld gangs that operate from the South West and South East Asia are responsible for smuggling heroin in USA. They use the Big Apple, New York City as a major base for the destruction of their wares all over America.

Aside from these international illegal drug gangs, a variety of local drug organizations also manufacture, cultivate, produce and dispense all manners of drugs.
