Drinking age

Introduction

Growing age affects a lot of factors in a person, but most of all it affects the interests of a person. As a rule of nature, where there is restriction, there is curiosity. All over the world, irrespective of religion, parents give children certain values. They clearly specify the dos and don'ts according to their age. As the children grow, their interests also change. They become more interested in what they consider adult stuff'. Alcohol drinking is one of the many adult things that attract the youth. Although, it is the main duty of parents to give their kids good values, but they cannot keep an eye over them everywhere. As long as they are at home, parents can watch over them. But they can practice alcohol drinking anywhere outside their parents' sight. To share the responsibility of parents, there are laws in every society. Laws chalk out a boundary that nobody can cross. It is the responsibility of government and law bodies to make sure that people are following the laws (Hanson, 2012).

Alcohol drinking is common though in almost every society, but it has obvious drawbacks. It adversely affects health and personality. From a medical point of view, below a certain age alcohol drinking may result in psychological and personality disorders. This is the main reason, that the drinking age matters a great deal. Every country has defined laws in this regard. In fact, there are international laws regarding drinking age, as well. According to the Act of 1984, people below the age of 21 cannot consume alcoholic drinks. But all countries have set their own limits, and this act is not followed firmly everywhere.
