Abstract

This paper talks about the standard dress code that is being defined particularly for nurses when they are on their duties. In this paper, the discussion will be over the dress code for the nurses, its advantages, and its impact on individuals and the staff (Cohen, 2007).

Introduction

The dress code in ever profession is of immense importance as it reflects the administration and human resources of any organization. Similarly, nursing is one of the most respectable and honorable professions of the world. It has been a common observance that nurses have the most principal responsibilities while taking care of the patient so, a dress code is very necessary for this profession. Wearing a particular dress has many advantages. In the past years there was a dress code for the nurses, but as the time changes, this profession also get some amendments. One of the most important of them is the change of the dress code for the nurses (Cohen, 2007).

Discussion

In the early years, the dress code for the nurses was totally white with a white cap and white shoes and there were no definitions of any other accessories of the nurses. Nowadays, most of the nurses is scrubs. The uniform standard for scrubs contains a light weight, short sleeved shirt and pants. Many different styles are available for both male and female nurses. The shoe code is strictly followed by some hospitals while others don't. The nurses have to be remaining on their feet for a long time so, they need supportive and comfortable shoes. So, shoe with slip-on style is provided to the nurses with the addition of socks for cushioning the feet within the shoe and providing more comfort during the long shifts.
