Introduction
Domestic violence has been in practice from centuries and has been manifested in one way or the other. Women have been subjected to this menace on multiple grounds; however, it tends to depend upon the culture and norms of the society. The reason behind the subjection of women to domestic violence might be different if pitched against the other societies. In the context of this study the researcher intends to inquire about the reason behind the notion of Domestic Violence Amongst South Asian women in the UK. Before moving forward in the context of this research it is important to establish the grounds for domestic violence upon which the nomenclature of the whole study tends to stand upon. Domestic Violence is termed as a behaviour which tends to inculcate the tool of abuse on another partner in a relationship. Since it is difficult to classify domestic violence in one form it is also difficult to identify its types. Domestic Violence can include sexual abuse, physical assaults, verbal abuse and etc (Richardson et al 2002, p. 274).
However, as highlighted above, domestic violence tends to take its roots based upon different conjunctions. However, in most cases of domestic violence women are subjected to the cause if compared against men or children. The notion of domestic violence tends to affect individuals differently in different manner. Some tends to cope up with ease; however for some it tends to be lifelong curse. Domestic Violence Amongst South Asian women in the United Kingdom tend to exist due to different reasons. Although the immigrants from South East Asia have managed to changed their natural habitat but have not managed to dismantle the core values injected in them. The women in United Kingdom who tends to have their roots attached to South Asia are subjected to the menace for the most of the same reason as they were in their hometown.
One reason of domestic violence tends to be the gender differences; gender difference in one society is perceived and interpreted in one manner and the other in other manner. A woman in South Asia tends to be accounted for the household work, and is expected to that only. However, if a woman tries to compete with her counterparts and tends to work outside her home in order to support her family, than there is a possibility that it might not go very well with the head of the family which in Asian Setting tends to be ...
