Focus

The article, which is chosen to evaluate critically is “Exploring Women's Experience of Domestic Violence: Injury, Impact and Infant Feeding”. As the name is self-explanatory, the article is about domestic violence on women. This issue has an expansive significance in our global village, where almost every third women on this planet has to face some kind of domestic abuse during her life span. The increasing ratio of this crime is becoming threatening for the social environment of this planet, since the effects of such brutality upon women do impact upon their children, especially upon dependent children, who eventually got frustrated, which effects their growth. However, some learn such practices through observation and continue practicing this atrocious ritual. So, this study was focused to put light on those domestic violence which are observed and experienced by the pregnant women. Furthermore, this also draws attention towards the consequences of physical violence on the everyday life of those women. This also tries to explore the pregnancy issues they might have faced due to the physical violence, and how they treat their infant babies.

Background

Women are principally considered as the esteem of any nation. However, unfortunately, they are for the most part the mostly discussed matter in our social realm. Domestic violence is a common practice across the globe; some countries have strict laws and confederacies against such act, but still it is a common practice among various under-developed countries. The most common domestic violence is against the women. World Health Organization researched that the rate of this crime has significantly increased after 2010. It is a severe affair of concern, but still a lot of us do not have any safety measures against this societal dilemma. Is last two years, around 10 percent women suffered domestic violence, and around 29% woman of European region came across this during their life-time. There is no doubt that the topic is of great importance and has worth researching significance. There are various researches conducted previously also, but the significance of the topic can be measure with the fact that this has been researched thousands of times from centuries, but still everyday a new case evolves and so the research continues (Unicef, 2006).

Aim

The aim of this research is to find out the affects of domestic violence upon pregnant women, and factually aware the audience about the social dilemma, which numerous of our mothers and sisters are facing (Anon, 2010). The research was published by the British Journal of Midwifery, in the year 2012. The aim of this research is to highlight the affects of domestic violence, and how it affects the psychology of a woman, which eventually affects the health of expected baby as well as of the mother. To successfully pursue this research, selected number of volunteer women is selected; all were the inhabitants of United Kingdom.
