Introduction

The world in which we live today is full of people. These people belong to different countries, different race, culture and different religion. Even when people belong to the same religion then within this similar religion one can easily depict different sectors that held different belief about any aspect. Similarly, in Christianity, different Christians held different beliefs. The aim and objective of this paper is also to talk about one of the aspects about which people held different beliefs. God has created both men and women and has assigned different roles to them. They lead their lives according to the orders of God. There are certain aspects and certain things that are controversial. One such aspect is related to the Royal Priesthood. The dilemma that this aspect involves is that there are some schools of thoughts according to which women are not obliged to hold Royal Priesthood or leadership and ministry positions. There are some people who do not agree with the idea that women should be entitled to have full participation in the church ministry and church leadership. The main reason that they give behind this belief is that it is the church in which men are called by God to provide leadership or headship and the responsibility of women is to assist them specifically when it comes to the worship and shepherding. It is assumed by people that ministry in the church is regarded as priesthood from which women are excluded. The aim and objective of this paper is to undertake discussion about this issue. The discussion is done by taking into consideration facts that are mentioned by the Testaments and in the light of sayings and examples of holy women.

Women in Royal Priesthood, Leadership and Ministry in Old Testament

As women preachers these days we have a lot of difficulties to be accepted in the priesthood because of in the old Apostle, Paul comment in EP that women should be quiet in chief position and should not be in assemble when men are in command. If we take into consideration the Old Testament then it would be revealed to us that women have occupied leadership positions. There were few women who can hardly be classified as submissive females such as Sarah, Huldah, Deborah and Hannah. Even Jesus had women disciples. It was woman who first of all proclaimed for the resurrection. Participation of women at leadership roles and in other roles can also be predicted by the fact that Paul also has mentioned that there were women among his coworkers. He even goes to the extent that he calls one an apostle and another a deacon.
