CHAPTER 01: INTRODUCTION
Back ground of the Research
Current era is the period of technology, skilful knowledge, and the best utilization of non human and human capital in order to reap the benefits and outcomes due to committed, and highly motivated workforce enable any business to have a strong competitive advantage. The different strategies have been adopted by different employers in the case of reward management, and the traditional hierarchical organisational forms have been replaced with the flatter organisation structure which leads to team working. In order to meet the objectives and to conduct research on the selected topic I selected Sainsbury's Supermarket. A questionnaire will be distributed among the employees of Sainsbury's supermarket for obtaining their views regarding the impact of non-monetary rewards on employee performance.
Introduction of the Sainsbury's Plc
According to Sainsbury's (2008) during 1869 Sainsbury's was founded by Marry Ann and John James in the 173 Drury Lane London. It comprises different convenience stores across the UK; home based shopping facilities for its customers and Sainsbury's bank. The main aim of the company is to stand for different range of products at reasonable prices and to deliver the best level of customer service. Company also ensures the learning and development opportunities for all colleagues and remuneration and reward for their contribution and performance (Sainsbury's 2008). Sainsbury's as major retailer in UK has achieved the recognition in IIP (Investor in People). Its aim is to create well dedicated workforce in order to get the competitive advantage in business and delivering the best service possible. With the passage of time Company adopted different innovative strategies in order to cope with external environmental factors. During 20th century it was the leading retailer in the UK and now it is the longest food retailing chain.
