Introduction

DNA is the genetic material of most living organisms that controls heredity and it is located in the nucleus of cells. DNA is a nucleic acid consisting of two strips called nucleotides. The two strips are arranged spirally to form a double helix and joined together by hydrogen bonds between nucleotide bases. (Champoux, 2001) The genetic information is contained in sequence along the molecule, which can make accurate copies of itself by a process called replication, thus passing the genetic information to daughter cells when cells divide.
