I am a student of IUPUI and am enrolled in their Masters of Science Finance program and, with only two semesters remaining, am on the verge of passing out from IUPUI.In order to test the job market for the demand for professionals having my qualification, I have been trying for several months to secure a job that pays well and also offers a bright and promising career path. I was determined to seek a job before I entered into the final semester of my program. However, all my efforts and endeavors have reached a dead end so that I repeatedly faced times when I questioned myself for even making the decision to seek a job before passing out. The job market was in a terrible condition and I learned by giving numerous interviews that academic qualifications were just not enough for securing the ideal job for a student with a grade-point average of more than 3.

Instead, most businesses required prior experience and this proved to be my shortcoming. With every passing day and with each unsuccessful interview, my hopes were dashed even more and I eventually surrendered my quest for a job, deciding instead to complete the program. In the final semester, however, our university organized the IUPUI Diversity Career Fair and I was tempted to be part of it, especially when I had a look at the list of guests who were to attend the fair. Customarily, the students were asked to “dress their best, look their best, and be at their best”; seeing how important the day was for their careers, all the students complied without any protest.
