Today the perspectives and methods for the phenomena related to learning are facing a major shift in trends, as the traditional learning is overcome by distant learning due to various reasons attached to the circumstances of learning. The shifts from traditional to distance learning are active and visible in all major fields of education, which are in demand. Moreover, the education fields, which consist technicalities and are known for a combination and mixture of education and practical experience during the learning program, are shifted from traditional educational learning to distant learning. Such distant education is newly incorporated in the field of nursing studies implemented through using online programs, which assist distant education learning in nursing.
Discussion
In the past, the learning process in the nursing education was heavily based on mortar and brick due to the dignified learning that the nursing education required. However, this is no more the case, as the avenues to higher education learning in nursing have changed. The modes of learning in the nursing field are no longer similar to traditional features that were present earlier in the educational learning. The discussion will be proposed on how distant education learning nursing is brought from classroom and labs to the comfort present at home, providing programs that fit to the uniqueness of saving time, cost, and other technical requirements. Moreover, the paper will also help to discuss on the issues of the transitional process that the instructors and the faculty is experiencing, as the teaching styles need much more variations in order to influence nursing students and to facilitate them with online teaching environment. The shift in trends also requires acknowledging the significance of the distant education that is provided to nursing students as an alternate to the traditional system.
Faculty Perspective
The education learning process in nursing, previously involved heavy amount of face to face interaction, as the learning involved in nursing is understandably critical and requires great amount of interactional learning. To cope up with the practicality the faculty associated with the teaching of nursing used different types of interaction methods to transfer learning and educating to the nursing students. The interactional types by the faculty mainly included learner content and matter, instructor-learner, and learner-learner. However, the interactional process implemented by the faculty in the online methods of teaching as distant learning does not have the luxury as it happens in the direct or face-to-face methods of teaching and learning. The lack of ability in terms of face-to-face interaction or traditional education requires faculty to develop curriculum or syllabus that suits students to engage proactively in the material taught.
