Introduction

The professional practice regulation model has envisioned a four level pyramid building of the nursing practice so that the outcomes of nursing practice can be achieved which include evidence based nursing, safe and quality nursing practice. The pyramid of nursing practice is based on the scope of practice, code of ethics, specialty certification and standards of practice (Styles, et al., 2008). The second level of the pyramid after the base includes nurse practice acts and rules and regulations and the next level is policies and procedures of the institute. The self determination is located at the peak of the pyramid. Each level of the model includes different guidelines and laws that administer the practice and terminate in the feeling of self determination. According to the laws and guidelines, the professional nurse contribute in the determination of own practice (RN, 2011, pp.6).
