Are Mobile Phones Dangerous?

Introduction

Mobile phones have long been criticized for the dangers that they pose to the human health, as well as, the environment. There have been a number of researches that studied the harmful effects of the mobile phones. It is generally believed that the mobile phones pose a serious threat to the health of the users. It is generally believed that the radiations emitted by the mobile phones can cause cancer, as well as, tumors. It has also been widely researched that the use of mobile phones while driving can also increase the risks of accidents. This research paper will throw light on the various dangers that are caused by the use of cell phones, as well as, the myths that surround the usage of cell phones and the risks and dangers associated with it.

It is a statistically established fact that since mobile phones are rapidly and widely disseminated, they have created new behaviors that can lead to various types of accidents related to the reduction of people's attention. The existence of risk electromagnetic interference near certain medical devices has also been proven (Bianchi & Phillips, pp.39-51, 2005). Finally, the possible health effects of electromagnetic emissions from mobile phones or base stations, which contribute to the phenomenon of electromagnetic pollution, are subject to debate: the scientific study of impact on populations does not lead to a single conclusion and, since it is a recent phenomenon, lack of temporal distance to evaluate potential long-term effects.

A study by the U.S. administration for highway safety, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), noted as the United States in 2005, at a given time, about 6% of drivers use a phone held in hand while driving (or 974,000 vehicles at any given time). Only 0.7% of drivers were calling with a headset / microphone remote, and only 0.2% of drivers were dialing a number (Davie, Panting & Charlton, pp.359-373, 2004).

All electronic devices using movement of electrons in conductors may be affected by electric and magnetic fields. Therefore, to avoid disturbance levels of the electromagnetic compatibility that could lead to malfunctions such blockages, false values, inappropriate action.
