For the business data of the company, the backup and disaster recovery plan is considered as an insurance policy (FEMA, 2012). The data of the company should be used without a proper insurance policy that is without an adequate disaster plan.

The information technologies are used by the businesses for effectively and rapidly processing the information. The employees and workers utilize the telephone systems of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and the electronic mail (e-mail) for communication. The transmission of data that includes the payments and orders from one company to another is done by using the Electronic data interchange (EDI).

The information is processed by the servers and large chunks of data are stored in them. For the creation, processing, managing, and communicating the information, the employees use laptops, desktop computers and wireless devices. Therefore, in order to secure all the data that is shared on the servers a disaster plan is required for protecting the valuable data. An effective disaster plan will secure the data and the company will not get affected by the damage of servers and loss of data.

Discussion

In the case of XYZ Company all the data is lost due to pipe breaking which caused a huge loss to the company. As the XYZ Company uses same servers for the emails and payrolls so both the information is lost. In order to prevent this mishap in near future a proper disaster plan is developed so as the XYZ Company can be secure from data loss.

Strategies for recovery are to be created for the systems of IT as well as their applications and data. Among this there is also included the servers, desktops, wireless devices as well as connectivity. The levels for the recovery of IT are to be consistent with the levels of recovery of the functions of XYZ Company as well as the processes that were creation during impact analysis of the business.

The IT resources that are needed for the support of the business functions as well as the tasks are also to be identified. The IT resource recovery time should be the same as for the objective of the business functions and the task that are based over the resources of the IT (Kirvan, 2013).
