Children and adolescents with disabilities and various health issues can be found in all societies, cultures and communities; they should be respected and supported to ensure the full exercise of their rights (Law, 2002). There are certain legislations and models that support the rights of these children. In this paper we are going to discuss Scottish legislation and social policy relevant to the case of Edward's Family. Explain and analyze two models of disability: social and medical Model and apply the knowledge to the case of Edward Family. It will include discussion of the role of inter-professional working with effective practice. In the end we will analyze the case with reference to Transitions and Social work theory and practice. This research's purpose is to let readers know about the importance of rights protection of people suffering from disability and mental health issues.

In any country, effective implementation of legislation is important because helps to create a balance between individuals restriction and freedom. On the other hand social policy is a set of political and social practices designed to address various social problems. In this paper of the paper we are going discuss Scottish Legislation and Social Policy relevant to the case of Edwards Family.
Children Act 1995
Ryan is an 11 year old child; he is showing signs of PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), he is also has potential eating disorder and struggling at school since his parents split up. After the separation of his parents he became isolated and lonely. The issue of Ryan can be covered by Children's Act 1995. Children's Act of 1995 of Scotland protects, supports, and supervises children with disability and children affected by disability and their family. This act allow children to live their lives as normal as possible (Basford & Oliver, 2003). As we can see Ryan is affected by the separations of his parents therefore we can justify that this Act applies to his problem. Under this Act the authorities have the responsibility to promote and safeguard children welfare in need to their area. They are also liable to provide appropriate service to make sure children needs are met. In case of Ryan authorizes are liable to provide services to minimize the adverse affect of the problem faced by him. There can be several kinds of respite arrangements to help children -provision with Child's home, occasional overnight stay, daytime care, and regular periods of care.
According to this act there is important need to support transitional stages in development of children such as entry in the primary school and secondary school and school leaving age. As we know that Ryan is struggling with school, his need needs to be protected and supported.
