Advantages and Disadvantages of Digitalization for Development

Advantages and Disadvantages of Digitalization for Development

Introduction

From the past three decades has intensified the development of digital technologies for storage, processing, search and retrieval of information. This technological development falls sharply in the process of organizing units of information. In this paper an attempt has been made to describe the digital technologies that have played an important role in the development of emerging markets, in the processes of storage, management, description and classification of documentary information in the information units, also seeks to indicate the advantages and disadvantages of using of these technologies for storage, retrieval and dissemination of documentary information. An attempt is, likewise, placed in such context for the possibilities of incorporating these technologies and their impact on the preservation and safeguarding and transferring of data (Tanner, 2001, pp.13-25).

Discussion

The global IT market returns to a rapid increase at a rate of 4.4%, and the market volume will reach 1.1 trillion Euros in 2011, significantly exceeding the pre-crisis levels at the same time. In 2012 growth is forecasted to be5.3% with a volume of 1.123 trillion Euros. Services will grow faster than other segments: 6.2% in 2012 when it became the driving force behind the BRIC countries - Brazil, Russia, India and China. Their IT markets are growing at an average of 11%. In Europe the leading country is Germany with an increase of more than 4%.On the global IT market will increase the share of software. Now it is 22%, including operating systems and applications, equipment - 38%, the rest - services (Sitts, 2000, pp. 110-198). For some of the countries, it is curious that such a structure is a mature market gradually, slowly but steadily moving and the domestic IT market. It is noteworthy that, highlighting the major trends, experts emphasize the special EITO: growing influence of emerging economies to world markets, especially China and India. Moreover, their innovations, and thus influencing based on their own research, R & D. Digital technologies offer many possibilities to solve the problems of storage, processing and retrieval of documents in information units, as well as optimizing the management of documents in organizations (Kowal, 2009, pp.108-120). Knowledge of the strengths and disadvantages of these technologies is a requirement for today's librarians, as the appropriate use of these means in the management of information will allow greater efficiency in the work of preservation and dissemination of documentation. It is important to bear in mind that the technologies allow valuable benefits in the management of documentation, but these processes are only effective if the librarian has been involved previously in the analysis and the proper organization of collections (Erway, 2008, pp.10-22).

Benefits of Digitalization in Emerging Markets

For more than a decade, modern digital have influenced curricula and innovative in human life, as the phenomenon of digitization and reached to the point milestone in its development, which makes to understand the threshold of a more radical change of acceleration.
