Abstract

This paper describes the Digital Home concept to which we evolved, and the concept which has become possible by the convergence of communications for broadband networks, computing, Entertainment and infrastructure and equipment of modern contemporary home. The Digital Home incorporates a broader sense than the automation. Not simply the installation of devices to control certain functions in buildings (houses, industries, offices) such as alarms, lighting, HVAC, energy management.

Introduction

The term Digital Home recently appeared in Spain, being coined by Telephonica in its White Paper and Digital Home de Telecommunications Infrastructure (May 2003).Depending on who you use, the concept varies: Telecom operators understand the Digital Home and Connected Home. Equipment manufacturers see it more as the dogmatic house, i.e., housing provided with a plurality of devices that allow the automation of it the Digital Home with sustainable housing (also used the term "green buildings .The digital home is a home created through integration between equipments, systems and technology, thanks to automation, which offers residents features and services that facilitate the management and home maintenance, providing them with enhanced safety, increase the comfort, improve telecommunications, energy saving cost and time, along with that its offers many new forms of entertainment, leisure and other services within the same and the environment without affecting the normal houses. The Digital Home incorporates a broader sense than the automation. Not simply the installation of devices to control certain functions in buildings (houses, industries, offices) such as alarms, lighting, HVAC, energy management but, by incorporating information technologies and telecommunications, to control and schedule all systems in the interior of the dwelling and from any place outside thereof, across different networks like the Internet, through a appropriate interface (Long, 2005).

The convergence of communications, computing and entertainment with networks Broadband is a consolidated trend worldwide.
