Difficulties of Being an Effective Manager

Introduction

Changes in the world of business pose interesting challenges and new situations to analyse. One is that to implement the new styles of driving, put into action requires a set of skills that people generally do not have to put up a new hierarchy (Cole & Kelly, 2012). Within business administration managers today are faced with a host of challenges that threaten against ideas, guidance and decisions of the manager. As the largest business organisation profile manager should be prepared to address these challenges, always taking the path that leads to the correct output, regardless of any obstacles that they traverse. Within this myriad of challenges we will play some of the most common (Northouse, 2012).

Researchers believe that 1990s brought profound changes and consequences for the social and economic environment, structures and business administration that shaped most of the nature of business strategy (Northouse, 2009). These five areas were the trend towards reciprocity as a central principle of international economic integration, the integration of the businesses in the economy via Partnerships, radical restructuring of the business, bringing the work to the place where the people and hiring outside activities that offer opportunities for advancement to administrative and professional positions (Stephens et al., 1992). Since managers are key people in any organisation, their role in meeting these challenges becomes critical and of more importance. This paper aims to discuss the issue of challenges faced by today's managers.

General Difficulties

An organisation has always been a complicated system that tends towards an organised complexity with increased challenges. The turbulence and uncertainty of the environment in which we live, enhance competitiveness and unpredictability of the markets in which the company operates as well as poses new challenges to managers and increasingly demanding (Silva et al., 2012). In post-industrial era, the organisation was no longer a monolithic system with a future where it would be governed through a scientific and engineering approach. In fact it was an open system with organisational structures deconstructed and less hierarchical. This suggests that a dynamic system in which new approaches prevail reduces weight, variability and diversification (Cole & Kelly, 2012).

Researchers argue that a good manager these days must profess and practice the kind of Decalogue of a good leader, that is be creative to innovate, be able to anticipate and solve problems, be working to deliver all their talent, be productive to always seek excellence , be enthusiastic to be able to lead others to the proposed goals, be optimistic to have confidence in a better future, be participatory to know how to delegate, be communicative to inform and be informed, be responsible to assume obligations to himself and the community and be honest to serve as examples (Dereli, 2010). Today's world requires enormous challenges to contemporary Manager.
