Comparison of Food Intake with the USDA Food Intake Recommendation
The chart of food intake that actually I follow is not exactly followed the quantities recommended by the USDS food. However, there are also some quantities present in the chart that exactly followed by me when comparison of practice and recommended food intake is being done. Let us consider each food area one by one and then comparing it with the practice value to get exact results of comparison.
Grain
The recommended quantity for grain is 7 ounce while I take 13 ounce. This shows that I have to reduce the intake of grain food to follow the recommendations made by USDS.
Fruit
The fruit quantity recommended by the USDS is 2 cups and exactly follow these recommendations by taking exactly 2 cups of fruit salad in my food intake.
Vegetable
The recommended quantity of vegetable declared by USDS for me according to my health and height is 3 cups, but I take approximately 5 cups of vegetable which is very large amount. Hence, the comparison recommends that I have to reduce intake of vegetable and limit this intake up to 3 cups a day.
Meat
In this case, I also take about double amount of meat value recommended by USDS. That's why; I have to half the intake of meat so that it exactly matches the recommended value.
Milk
Milk is the most important source of calcium, and must be involved in a suitable amount in daily intake of food (Davies, 2000, P 35). The recommendation of USDS about milk is 3 cups daily. The practice quantity of milk intake by me is 1 1/4 cups of milk, which is very low. But, instead of milk, I also take other source of calcium such as cheese and yogurt, which fulfills the remaining quantity of milk. This recommendation also teaches that if I take other sources like cheese in comparison of milk, then I must have to consider that cheese also provides large fat but milk has very limited quantity of fat. That's why; it is recommended to focus on intake of milk instead of other sources of calcium.
Oil
The intake of oil is also very high when I compared the practice value and the recommended value of oil. I use coconut oil which is also recommended by USDS, but I am conflicting with the recommendation in the way that I used about double quantity of oil ...
