Introduction

Diane Arbus was born in the year 1923 on March 14th and expired on 26th of July 1971. Arbus was a very famous American photographer and writer noted for black-and-white square photographs of "deviant and marginal people (dwarfs, giants, transgender people, nudists, circus performers) or of people whose normality seems ugly or surreal. Arbus was born to David Nemerov and Gertrude Russek Nemerov. This family was Jewish and lived in the city of New York where they used to own themselves a famous departmental store which was named as the 5th avenue. It was all because of the wealth of the family that Arbus was insulated from the effects of the great depression while he grew up in the1930's. Her father decided to become a painter after he retired from work and her sister went towards the stream of sculpture. Looking in to the grounds facts, this family was a pretty talented family with some exceptional skills. Arbus went to the field's ton school for her primary education. Arbus had 2 daughters, one became a writer and the other became a photographer. It was in the year 1969 when Arbus took divorce from her husband.

A friend of Arbus was reported to as saying that Arbus was pretty confused about her identity. She would at times think that people would consider her as the photographer of the freaks. Although Arbus worked for a number of fields of photography she was still not very sure as to how her work would be conceived by the public. It was in the year 1971 when Arbus committed suicide, and in the year 1972, Arbus was renowned as the first American photographer whose work was displayed at the Venice Biennale (Gaines, 2005). Arbus was one of those people who didn't live to see her success. The biggest misfortune in this scenario was that Arbus took her life herself. The suicide part showed as to how exhausted she might have been with her life that she took such a step. At times people tend to take steps which spoils their entire life, these steps may be taken through voluntarily or involuntarily terms. It was in the year 2006 when Nicole Kidman created a fictional movie on the life of Arbus. A photographer, who was unaware of her talent and was not very sure as to where her work might lead to, got successful over the years after her death (Sass, 2005). As many as million people were reported to have seen her work between the years 1972-1979.

The work of Arbus after her death had caught fire and has sold off at good rates, but at the same time when she climbed the stairs of success, like every other individual, her work even fell a victim to criticism.
