Development in Health & Social Care

Introduction

In the last decade (1990s), the health care started getting worst because of the increase in the number of the people in the NHS program (scheme designed by UK to provide State and Federal funds for people needing assistance with medical expenses) resulting into the considerable increase in the expenditure of the Government for health care systems. But then the managed health care system had introduced to improve health care and advantages for the NHS while reducing the expenses of Government (Aaron, 2005, pp: 14-26). The Government of UK is continuously trying to establish a Universal health care system for making ease for patients to universally approach to quality and economical health care as their right (National Health Service, 2008, pp: 327-418). The future of health care depends on the following key aspects:

Health care in the UK has revolutionized by the introduction of managed care. Used by both public and private, managed care is an alternative to the remuneration of health services. In arrangements of managed care, financing and delivery of health care has provided through contracts with hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, health agencies, home care, and other suppliers. It has described as a system of health care in which a variety of methods has used to contain the costs of services while maintaining quality of care (Burnham & Baker, 2010).

The main types of managed care plans include arrangements for indemnity, preferred provider organizations, and exclusive provider organizations, point of service plans, organizations and health maintenance. Spurred by the escalating costs of health care managed care has skyrocketed over the last ten years. Recent statistics indicate that about 65 percent of people insured by employers, or 50 million people has served by some form of managed care. State NHS systems increasingly are turning to forms of care has succeeded in providing health care (Nick, 2007, pp. 1-2). Some managed care offers an affordable alternative to health insurance. On the other hand, a growing number of individuals believe they receive less adequate health care and fewer benefits of these schemes. For example, many employees pay a larger share of their premiums for health care and medical expenses. These concerns, coupled with the fact that the interests of the company to focus on dividend increases, creating an environment of health care practice full of pitfalls for the professional social worker (Nolan, Pritchatt & Railton, 2011).

Definition Of Health

World Health Organization defines health as, “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” The definition for health had not changed since its adaptation in 1948, but the circumstances involved in maintenance and promotion of health vary on various grounds (Burnham & Baker, 2010).Social And Economical Influences On Health
