Abstract

This research paper aims to discuss the assessment and intervention plan for the Jacques Family where the family members are encountering a number of issues. The father is addicted to drugs and alcohol and thus, abuse the family emotionally. Hence, in this paper we will try to come up with an effective intervention and assessment plan that would be effectual in treating the major psychological concerns of Jacques Family.

Introduction

The Jacques family is comprised of the father, mother and their five children i.e. three sons and two daughters (Thomilson, 2009). Marie Jacques is a house wife or we can say a stay at home mother who looks after her family. The father, Mr. Jacques is a drug and alcohol addict and is also an emotional abuser. He has a tough time keeping a secure and stable job, and recently he was diagnosed with psychotic symptoms and bipolar disorder. Marie Jacques suffers from depression due to the verbal abuse imposed by her husband. The second oldest child Joshua Jacques is obese plus he also suffers from asthma (Thomilson, 2009). He spends most of his time with his close friend. Josh is facing lots of difficulties at school and also has a considerable hygiene issue. Miranda Jacques has certain issues at school owing to her lack of attention and her directions following. Being imaginative, she spends most of her time playing and talking with her toys. Valerie Jacques lends a hand by assisting in household chores and also by look after her siblings. She is capable of getting along with all and sundry, and at times quarrels with Samuel. Also, Matthew Jacques is somehow not up to the mark at school (Thomilson, 2009). He is bold and tough and has a high endurance for pain. He also has concerns in following directions from his mom though he will pay attention to Valerie. At times he can also be quite aggressive.

The Jacques family has a number of issues disturbing their development as a family which takes in: emotional abuse, bipolar disorder, depression, drug and drinking abuse, fire obsession and psychotic symptoms.
