Abstract
The condition of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is considered to be a complex disorder underlying variations in poor sensitivity and pulmonary lung function to hypoxia and broncho constriction keeping an individual at a huge risk of mortality or some other complications. Some of the essential options for treatments comprise of noninvasive positive airway pressure, oxygen therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, and osteopenia screening. This research study was carried out to assess the effectiveness of a research tool to ascertain registered nurses knowledge of administration of oxygen in the patients with Chronic Obstructive pulmonary disease. For this purpose a questionnaire was used as a tool for carrying out this study; factual knowledge was measured using multiple choice questions. A total of 306 registered nurses were used but only 192 participated in the study. Nurses frequently and independently makes decision on a daily basis regarding supplemental oxygen. Sometimes this decision is a significant factor in patient's outcome. The Advanced Nurse Practitioner has a significant role to play in patients and nurses education, this includes assisting nurses and patients to access the appropriate information to enhance their knowledge. This study took a quantitative enquiry into nurses' knowledge around oxygen administration and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. This study aims at establishing the factual knowledge related to the utilization of supplemental oxygen. The researcher was able to observe if factual information enhanced the function of experience, and education. The literature found that clinical decisions of nurse around this area were variable.
