Twentieth century is an era of a new breakthrough in technology, inventions and scientific discoveries, consumer electronics in general and washing machines in particular. This evidence convinced many of our contemporaries, and memories of grandmothers. One of them was originally created as a museum of washing machines of the early twentieth century.

The design of washing machine has seen many changes over the last century. The driver for this change was to increase the efficiency of the machine for the betterment of human being.

Technological improvement in washing machines went hand in hand with the development of their design. "Scary Monster" of the late nineteenth century with the discovery of the mechanism was completely an exquisite instrument of domestic life, which not only helped in everyday life, but also a stylish worked as an accessory. A washing machine managed to fundamentally change the way of amenities and way of housekeeping in the twentieth century. (Gutierres, 2007)

Sociological studies of American institutions showed that the mid 20th century saw the use of washing machine and its availability at an affordable price. These machines became quite compact for home use, the "utopian dream" of the American females began to come true: a woman availed consumer services became a consumer commodity, which in turn prompted. The development of the industry by the year1950 saw the use of fully automatic washing machines become common .Machine named "stiralka" no longer was referred as a "miracle machine".(Dyson, 2002)
