Desalination is a process that remove amount of salt and other minerals from water. The process is generally considered as a complete process of extracting minerals which are present in water.

Desalinated water is free from chemicals and salt. It is essentially a new invention. There are more than 170,000 plants working today. Desalination is environmental friendly. It doesn't need chemicals and does not spew out toxic waste. A UN ecological board undertook a study which disclosed that the ecological influence of desalination is negligible if the method is utilized correctly. The by-products of desalination can be utilized as salts and can be sold in new market. (Kemp, 1996)

It is a process that removes molecule and ions-typically from the sea water by the application of pressure to water on one side of a filter.
