Abstract

Depression is an issue which has affected almost everybody in the world; especially the teenagers during their high school life suffer from depressive syndromes. Depression affects the people from both genders, and people of all backgrounds, and ages suffer from this issue. Previously people believed that young teenagers could never go through any form of depression, which was completely erroneous. This paper will provide a brief overview regarding the facts that a teen could suffer from depressive symptoms during the high school life, and that they need proper attention during this period.

Introduction

Depression is defined as the point which occurs in the lifetime of an individual when they are mentally unstable, and there emotional state is marked by discouragements, sadness, and the loss which occur during the teenage years of the individual. Depression results in changes in this thinking, and behavioral patterns of the teenagers, this problem usually occurs among teenagers as they first start puberty, this problem could also begin at a much earlier stage depending on the fact if the child was born with some heredity or chemical inbalancement. Many researches suggest that almost thirty percent of high school students suffer from depression and they are not completely satisfied with their life style and possess some sort of psychiatric problem. The causes of depression among teenagers are much harsher as compared to the adults suffering from depression. A teenager faces many issues during their daily life and they have to face these issues more than once. Teenagers have to deal with various issues at the high schools, peer pressures, problems at homes, loss of the loved ones, and in some cases teens that take drugs could directly result in the initiation of depressive syndrome.
