What is a research study?
The researcher is inviting you to participate in a research study that incorporates a Developing High School Mathematics Skills: Comparing Experience of Regular and Special Education Students with Teachers' Experience from an Inclusive and General Classroom into your school's curriculum. Research is voluntary: I'll tell you about the study and then you should take time to make your decision. I encourage you to discuss your decision with your parents or guardians. They also have to provide their permission for you to enter this research study.
Why is this study being done?
I am trying to learn more about current teachings of mathematics. I want to learn about the mathematical skills developed by kids of your age.
What will happen to me?
There will be two groups that will include teachers and students. Both the groups will be given ten multiple choice questions to answer. You will be asked to complete the questionnaire during your lunch break. In case you are called during you class time, then an extra class will be held so that you can learn the things you missed in that class.
What are the good things about being in the study?
None.
Will being in the study hurt me?
We don't think you will be hurt by helping with this study.”
How long will I be in the study?
20 to 30 minutes.
Do I have other choices?
You can choose not to participate in this study.
Will people know that I am in the study?
The people in the school office will know that you are in the study, but they will not discuss your participation with anyone else. If they talk about the study or write about it, they won't use . If the researcher presents the study results or writes up the results, she won't use , only the number provided to you.
Whom should I ask if I have questions?
You can talk to me if you have any questions. Furthermore, you can also talk to your parent or guardian.
Is it OK if I say “No, I don't want to be in the study”?
You do not have to be in this study. No one will be mad at you if you decide not to do this study. Even if you start, you can stop at any time if you want.
